Down-under in Australia and in New Zealand, we celebrate our holiday season during Summer which means trips to the beach, backyard barbecues with friends and family, and getting out with my young boys to practice the golf swing!

Looking back at 2013 though and we saw some amazing new tech that allowed us to really bring personality to our digital lives. Tech that allowed us to be ourselves and define what that means. Some of my favorites include a FitBit (a Bluetooth wearable device for tracking physical activity), a Doxie scanner (reducing clutter and keeping all my documents in the cloud) and my Mophie (portable battery pack to keep my smartphone topped up).

And it seems Santa is going to be busier than ever this year.  The rumour is he’ll be delivering Tablets, Wearables, Quadcopters, and other cool tech, but only if you’re NOT on the naughty list.

Lucky for me, I’m definitely on the nice list!  Oh, you too?  Excellent.

The technology next year that I believe will be worth keeping tabs on will be the crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin (did you know there are others?!).  The combination of a highly technical de-centralised currency system in the hands of everyone combined with the implications it could have globally on existing financial systems is explosive – one way or another.

Lastly, in turning to next year, I hope and dream that we never forget disadvantaged users and those who will be coming online for the very first time in 2014.  The connectivity and freedom the Internet brings is truly amazing, even though you might have been taking it for granted recently.

Until next time stay safe out there, and Be Yourself.
