AVG App lets you snooze and turn off your alarm with just a nod or shake of your head

AMSTERDAM and SAN FRANCISCO – July 23, 2014 – AVG Technologies, (NYSE: AVG), the online security company™ for 187 million active users, today announced two AVG apps that use Amazon’s innovative Dynamic Perspective technology solely created for the new Amazon Fire Phone. The AVG Alarm Clock Xtreme app’s alarm clock and stopwatch features are controlled with simple head gestures, making selecting snooze or turning off the alarm an easy and immersive experience.

AVG is also providing an interactive version of AVG AntiVirus PRO for Android™ for the new smartphone and both will be available when Amazon Fire ships, at no cost. The new versions of both AVG apps have been specifically engineered to incorporate the new Dynamic Perspective sensor system that is exclusive to Amazon’s Fire phone.

The Amazon Fire phone version of the AVG Alarm Clock Xtreme incorporates movements like nodding and shaking your head, and other physical gestures such as left to right movement, to communicate commands to the app. Amazon Fire users will be able to download both apps directly from the Amazon store for free.

Tony Anscombe, Senior Security Evangelist, AVG Technologies, said “We’ve all experienced that jolt when the alarm goes off in the morning, followed by the struggle to locate the silence, snooze or off button. At AVG, we took a step back and thought through how our alarm clock app could make a real difference from a usability point of view. Our goal is to make it simple for our customers to use our products and apps, even for the everyday events like waking up, and the Dynamic Perspective technology on the Fire phone helped make that goal possible.”

“With Dynamic Perspective, Fire phone recognizes where the user’s head is in relation to the device to create a more immersive and satisfying experience around how they hold, move and use the phone,” said Steve Rabuchin, Vice President, Amazon Appstore. “We’re thrilled to have AVG make their apps available on Fire phone. We think customers are going to love the experience.”
