Privacy is Dead: Long Live Privacy

March 10, 2014

In an era when living publicly is becoming the default, people are coming up with creative ways to carve our private spaces in their lives.

At SXSW, there were a number of talks about privacy and how we can keep our data and device safe. One such talk “Privacy is Dead: Long Live Privacy” which was given by Ann Mack, Director of Trend Spotting at JWT.

During the talk, a statistic emerged stating that 71% of people feel that “privacy is dead”. In today’s world of tracking, surveillance and digital footprints, it’s easy to understand why people may feel this way.

But at AVG, we feel it’s important for people to realize that when it comes to data privacy, we can each control our own destiny.

Using free tools such as AVG PrivacyFix, we can each take steps to control how much data we are sharing online and who with share our information with.

Here is AVG’s Tony Anscombe giving his roundup of the privacy discussions at SXSW.
